About Us

The MIT Sloan BioMedical Business Club is a student-run organization that promotes leadership and involvement in the life science industries comprised of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and healthcare. We are a forum for ideas and actions linking students, scientists, and professionals from leading universities, businesses, and non-profit organizations.

Club Presidents

Kanaka Pattabiraman

Kanaka Pattabiraman is a second year MBA candidate at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to Sloan, Kanaka directed drug discovery research at Amgen and JNJ. As a graduate student, she invented a drug delivery technology and with her advisor, shepherded a start up through inception and growth. Kanaka holds a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from Stanford University, and a bachelors degree in Chemistry from Harvard University. In her spare time, she enjoys teaching fitness classes and travelling according to the instructions of The Lonely Planet.

Julia Kay

Julia Kay is a second-year student in the Harvard-MIT Biomedical Enterprise program, a joint MBA and SM from the MIT Sloan School of Management and Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. Prior to MIT Sloan/HST she worked in the Boston and Tokyo offices of consultancy Simon-Kucher & Partners, advising life science companies on how to maximize their revenues. Julia earned bachelor’s degrees in Mathematical Economics and History with honors from Brown University. She chairs MIT's Venture Capital Investment Competition.
